What happens during the first assessment?

The clinician first builds a timeline of progressive changes. This includes changes in behavior, judgment, language, thinking, movement, daily function, medical conditions, medications, and family history. Concrete examples are more informative than broad descriptions.

A family might report repeated socially inappropriate comments, loss of empathy, difficulty finding words, poor financial decisions, or new movement problems.
